Cooper County Memorial Hospital, affiliated
with the University of Missouri Health Care is a 50 licensed bed County
facility with a variety of services including Emergency Room, Acute Care
hospitalization, Skilled Nursing, Intermediate Care, Cardiac and Pulmonary
Rehabilitation and Ambulance Services in conjunction with the Cooper County
Ambulance Board.

The Challenge
Cooper County Memorial
Hospital had several challenges facing them in the immediate future. They
had been using the traditional Microfilm system to store and retrieve Medical
Record Document images for a number of years. Not only was there an immediate
need for a Microfilm Reader replacement, but the additional consideration
of the recurring annual Microfilm system maintenance cost. They found themselves
needing to read film off premise and were also quickly running out of storage
space at the Hospital. Looking to the immediate future, they wanted to begin
compliance with the EMR (Electronic Medical Records) initiative as well as
reduce the cost of handling documents and begin to share records across the
hospital network.
